"In comparison with the leopard, the jaguar is generally larger and much stockier, with a broad heavy head, much shorter legs and tail (a good visual description might be a leopard on steroids). The background of the jaguar's coat is a tawny-yellow, like many of the Asiatic leopards, and lightened to whitish on the throat and belly."
"...Interestingly, the rosettes of the leopard and the jaguar are almost identical with the exception of the jaguar having spots "inside" the rosettes where the leopard has none."
"...Melanistic jaguars have been observed in South America, resulting in coats that are heavily pigmented, appearing almost black as in the black panther (leopard), with the rosette pattern visible only in strong light."
"...Although occassional attacks on humans have been reported, jaguars are rarely aggressive towards humans and , unlike leopards, have not developed man eating tendencies."

Jaguar And Leopard Differences

Since wild leopards live only in Africa and Asia and wild jaguars live only in the Americas, there is no possibility of confusing them in the wild. Both species have distinct builds and generally differing coat patterns. Leopards do not have the spots within the rosettes that jaguars always have, and the jaguar's spots are larger than the leopard's. The jaguar's body is compact, and the legs are more stocky than the more gracile leopard. The jaguar's head is also more stocky, with a larger looking jaw and an overall more square appearance to the face.
The jaguar, like the leopard, is an endangered species.

The Tiger: The tiger is the largest out of the "cat family". It is sarongand very powerful, it could kill a person in a flick of its paw. It works alone which thing like grooming, hunting etc. A female will stay in her territorie unlike a male were it will travel long places to find himself a female to mate with. Once a male finds a scent of the females territorie it will follow. If the mating is succesfull then the female would give birth to 2+6 or rarly 8 cubs and would nercure them. The cubs stay with there mother for 2 years and ussaly the male tiger would stay around the grounds/territorie to make sure his ubs and his female are safe from ariffales like other males. The feamle would only let the male get any were near the cubs. the ubs would learn to run, hunt, clean, eat harder food and would bond a maggnificant relashionship with there mother. unlike lions or leopards, they like to live in a den The Lions: The lion are the only cat that that lives in a 'pride'. The pride has a male or rareley 2 males that are the leaders and preteted the females and the cubs while the females work as a team to hunt or ambush there prey. All the male cubs would leave the pride to search for there own once they are able to do the basics: hunt, fight, mate etc. A male lion of a pride would fight off any male whom are willing to take over the pride. If fale then the new male kills all the cubs and starts to spread his own geanes around. The Leopard: the leopard is also on it own like its cousin, the Tiger. but leopard tend to live in trees or well they sleep and normally drag there prey up the tree to keep away other animals wanting his dinner suh as the heiener. they have very sharp claws to climb and to kill. Even as cubs they grow sharp claws in awsome speed. Im sorry about typing so much but Iam CRAZY about the big cats and LOVE tigers. oh and sorry for also not telling you anything about the jaguar because i am running out of space and you would proberly be dead if you are lucky from reading this all. i hope i have helped!! :)

JAGUAR

The jaguar (Panthera onca) is a New World mammal of the Felidae family and one of four "big cats" along with the tiger, lion and leopard. The jaguar is the third-largest feline after the tiger and lion, and is the largest and most powerful feline.

The spotted cat most closely resembles the leopard physically, although it is of sturdier build and its behavioural and habitat characteristics are closer to those of the tiger. It is strongly associated with the presence of water and is notable, along with the tiger, as a feline that enjoys swimming.

LEOPARD
Originally, it was thought that a leopard was a hybrid between a lion and a panther, and the leopard's common name derives from this belief; leo is the Greek and Latin word for lion and pard is an old term meaning panther. In fact, a "panther" can be any of several species of large felid. In North America, panther means puma and in South America a panther is a jaguar. Elsewhere in the world a panther is a leopard. Early naturalists distinguished between leopards and panthers not by color (a common misconception), but by the length of the tail - panthers having longer tails than leopards.

What's the difference between jaguars and leopards? Both are big cats, both roar, and both are covered with spots. The answer lies in the way their spots are arranged. The leopard and the jaguar have spots arranged in small circles all over their coats; however, a jaguar has one or more extra spots in the center of each circle, the leopard does not.

their spots are the same but leopards dont have rosettes(the markings inside the spots),their size is different and their location. jaguars are from mexico and south america, and leopards are in Africa (with the exception of the Sahara Desert), as well as parts of Asia Minor. They are still found in the Middle East, India, Pakistan, China, Siberia, much of mainland South-East Asia, and the islands of Java and Sri Lanka.

also jaguars unlike other cats prefer to kill by piercing their teeth through the temple instead of the throat. a jaguar will eat its prey on the ground while the leopard will take theirs to the trees. that is so hyenas and lions wont steal their food.
