Someone has thanked me for some future help I am going to provide but I am not sure how to respond to that (they did it through email). I want to acknowledge the thank you but at the same time I want to make it clear that its not neccasary without offending them in some way. How would you go about doing that?

Just say "You're welcome" or "no problem". Unless there's money involved in thanking you that you're uncomfortable accepting, take the gratitude and move on. They've simply proven that they are more worth your help than someone who just expects it without thanking you.
