I have to replace a concrete block porch with a 8'X20' slab of concrete on top. Estimates I have gotten are about $1900, that's ALOT of money. Just wondering if anyone knows of any companies or organizations that might help me out with the cost. Or any other suggestions. I do own the home, not renting.

if you have have enough clearance, replace w/ wooden deck if possible/safe ( i had to do it with the back porch @ grandmas house - metal hand rail fell out for the 10TH time!)

That price isnt too bad to be honest. If you have the ability or help available, tear the existing out yourself. This will cut the cost a bit. If you really wanted to go nuts, you could than form it yourself. Afterall, it is just a 8' by 20' slab. Not exactly rocket science. Than all they gotta do is come and pour and finish.

If the concrete top is pitted and uneven, a cheaper soliution may be to "parge" it. This is essentially a coating of concrete on top of your existing slab. After you parge, be sure to apply waterproof sealant yearly to prevent further deterioration.
