My car, Betty Faye Wong, has been with me for 20 years. She has been outstanding and I thank her often for her faithfulness.

Seems the older a car gets with one owner, and stays reliable or may need only basic maintenance year after year, those cars acquire a personality that their owners/lovers relate to.
F'instance, speaking encouragement on your way home with a dry gas tank, comforting your ride in a tight commute-- all's fair.
Most people get vanity licence plates to declare their relationship, these days; only rarely do your see handpainted logos naming their wheels as- "Old Paint, Cement Zeppelin, Lord of the Dings", you get the idea.

I just searched google to see if it's normal to chat to a car. I'm so glad it's not just me that talks to my cars , least I know I'm not going mental. I also name my fiesta (Ollie ) and also I have a Kia ( I just call Kia) and I have the odd talk to them while driving ..
And I love my cars..

I had a red Toyota that I called my Tomato. I talked to it all the time. It was my best friend. We went everywhere together, even Memphis, TN. I know it sounds crazy, but that's just how I felt about it. I haven't had a car since that I felt that way about.

I don't know if my dad talked to his cars, but he had a Chev. truck named "Sparky", That was because he put a real nice two-tone gold paint on it. He also had a 55' 4Dr Chev. he called "Cesar". My sister had a black Honda Civic she called "Spooky". I would like to name my 88' Chev. Blazer, but I can't think of a good name that would match.

I don't talk to my car, but I have a black Chrysler 300C and my secretary named her Momba (as in black momba). The name stuck. Now my whole family calls my car Momba -- even my mom and dad.
