Each woman is different some can bounce right back from a miscarriage mentaly and emotionally. If your friend is trying to have a baby she should wait at least 4 to 7 weeks this gives the her hormons and her cycle to regulate. I don't know about when she should return to work. Just be there for her and let her know your there and when she is ready to talk about it she will.

I'm sorry for your friends loss. I'm not sure if the recovery time is as long physically as it may be mentally, I guess depending upon how far along she was when she miscarried. I know when my sister-in-law miscarried her first child it took her longer to recover mentally. Physically she was back at work in a week, but mentally she was afraid to get pregnant again for almost two years....

Hey I think she should give her self a week or 2 before she go back to work because what the Doctors dont tell you is you have to heal just like having a baby!
Not only for your body your mind too.

Physically, you will recover completely from a D&C or D&E in about two weeks. The bleeding should subside, your cycle will start up again, and the hormone-induced mood swings will even out. It will still take four to seven weeks to start a totally new cycle, and you should wait at least that long before trying again.

At least 2 weeks physically...I've personally had 3 miscarriages and one born at 20 weeks...Mentally it will take awhile..Of course I pushed myself also just to stop thinking about it so much..I went back to work 3 days after my second miscarriage...but I also had living children that I had to be strong for..

Physically, just a couple days.
Now emotionally, THAT depends on the person. Some people need to get back into their daily routine. Some need time to themselves. If you think she needs to take it easy, suggest a girls night out for Fri or Sat. That may be the best thing to keep her mind off her loss.

2 or 3 days, depending on how bad it was. She should still take it easy. Her period should start up again appr. a month later, maybe a little longer. Also, she will be dealing with hormone levels dropping at a fast rate.

i think of it quite is super which you quite opt for to get out after your miscarriage. i did not sense like doing something a week after mine. i could call and confer with a physician just to make optimistic each little thing is okay.
