i think women carry their rights with them wherever they go. i think clothes are an integral part of a woman's personality plus they help keep out the dust.

The Qu'ran says that woman should cover there hair it does NOT say they have to cover there faces. The use of the veil in various Islamic countries is basicly either from misplaced beliefs that the Qu'ran says they should do it or used as a status symbol ie "i'm more religious than you".
Its good that the UK allows people the choice to wear it or not which is a sign of true religious freedom. However the use of veils in certain situations does cause difficulties. Certaintly in the case of teachers I think the headmaster made a good call.
If the veil was a fundermental relgious aspect that must be adheared to according to the Qu'ran then I have no problem with them wearing it at all times. It isn't so get over it and move on.

You're not asking so much as telling.
However, whether or not it's necessary is not a matter of geography but of cultural expectation. The problem in the West is that the choice to cover the face has very different implications, which Westerners feel uncomfortable with.
But lets not be hypocrites: Westerners cause just as much offence when they impose their habits on other cultures.

It is against the laws of their religion and family for a woman to go without her veil. A woman is not to be seen by anyone but her husband and other women without her veil. You may see it as not being necessary but what if someone of a different nationality told you that it was not necessary for you to wear jeans and a T-shirt because it is not the 1950's anymore.
People who are of Mexican descent speak Spanish does that make it unnecessary to speak with their families? or Chinese. In many large cities they have China Town does that mean the Chinese are not allowed to wear their cultural outfits?
This country is a melting pot and everyone is allowed to wear what he or she wants to.

The part I do not understand is, there are cases, that they may be condemned to death in some cases.
I believe like you do, in a free society, which we are, no one under any circumstance should be compelled to wear anything that they don't want to.
When in Rome do as the Romans do.
I do not believe in immorality, Neither do a lot of other Americans, but it feels good knowing you can push the envelope.
The majority of Americans live within societal mores, yet we feel free to do anything we damn please.
I am a clean living American, but I know that I am free to kick up my heels if I can stand the pressure.

you should also consider their religion. If they're muslim then yes, it's their obligation to wear a veil. it's not just tradition but also religion. when i was in Egypt, I found out that every woman wears a veil due to their religious belief as well as using it as a mean to protect them from the burning heat of the sun!!

i don't have a challenge with it. maximum Muslim women who positioned on the hijab gain this via determination, and its purpose is to maintain modesty. In some midsection jap international places, that's the regulation that they must positioned on it. i do no longer carry with that, because of fact i think of that opens the way for oppression of girls, in case you may tension them to gown a definite way. If I have been traveling a midsection jap us of a with strict gown codes for its women, i could positioned on a scarf, on the same time as a vacationer, on the grounds that seems to me the well mannered ingredient to do. to boot, they are fairly.

They wear the veil because it is more comfortable for them. If an american women moved to a part of Africa where the women don't wear shirts, would you expect them to go around topless all the time?

Most of them know it isn't necessary here. However, out of respect for their own traditions they continue to wear one. Same thing with Jews and keeping Kosher. They don't have to, but CHOOSE to (especially if they are reform jews). It's their own respect for their own culture and customs. We should respect them too!

They will never learn it is not necessary here. They will always honour their own customs. Although I disagree. When in Rome, do as the Romans do and blend in.
