In order to stay the course and be able to truly say "mission accomplished" and not have it be some PR spin. How many lives, how many years, and how much money are you willing to have the nation spend to say those words and have some meaning behind it? For example, if it took 8 more years, 5,400 more dead soldiers, 54,000 more maimed soldiers, and 14 trillion more dollars if that would be worth it. Or what numbers work for you?

Dog, CJ, Alanninn et al. give a number then. How many more young men are you willing to die to claim victory? How much of your, your children's, grandchildren's, and great grandchildren's money are you committed to spend also? Put your money where you gun barrel is. Go on record, say how much.

I don't have to be a chemist to know that rat poison will kill you. and I don't have to have put my life on the line to see a f*** up. And to say "I can't go, because it will look like 'they' won", makes about as much sense at trying to wrestle your bacon back from a bear that invaded you camp site because you want to say no animal has ripped off your supper while camping.

The war in Iraq is a total mess. We can't win the peace. And 2800 brave americans have died.
The mission hasn't been accomplished. We've borrowed 500 billion on this war, a debt that will burden future generations.
We can't stay the course. NO WAY!

For conservatives the answer is any price should be sacrificed.
For liberals the answer is find a vastly different approach to the problem.
The reason for this is when a liberal feels threatened they look for the immediate and long term causes and not bother the rest.
When a conservative feels threatened they in turn become hostile to anything different from themselves. You see comments on here about wiping out Iraqis because they are terrorists. O'Reilly making claims of how all afghan civilians are terrorist supporters, etc. They tend to turn for more extreme policies.
That is the basic psych. difference between what happens to people who are closed minded to new beliefs and must cling to old beliefs no matter what. And people who are open minded and have no problems changing with the world.

At whatever the costs.
If we cut and run - or even set a withdrawal date, the terrorists and their tactics of murdering and maiming thousands of innocent men, women and children will be victorious.
And then what do we do? You can't possibly think that we can just isolate ourselves from their ideology. Or even pretend that we can defend ourselves from further terror attacks on U.S. soil from an emboldened and fanatical enemy. Hell, we can't even control our own borders to the tune of ten million illegal immigrants and still counting!
Their demand is clear - You will convert to Islam.....or die.
For all intents and purposes, they have already defeated Spain, and France isn't far behind.
And make no mistake, we will have to confront them sooner or later, either on their turf, or in the cities of America.
Until a better strategy or policy comes along, Iraq, for better or worse, is pretty much our present war on terror.

After maximum of united statesa.'s allies have quite decrease united statesa. off, no longer from commerce yet from help, the severe enemies will come out, and that they gained't be wearing Islamic outfits the two. it is going to in all probability be a number of those comparable mercenaries that helps united statesa. in Iraq now...

"Stay the course" does not have a price tag.
The fight on AIDS, the fight on Poverty, and so forth... When does it get so expensive that you will want to cut and run? It won't because those causes are right no matter the cost.
If you oppose the war, you just have to live with it. Your argument doesn't persuade those who don't agree.
Best wishes,
pup
