We were watching "Snapped" on the oxygen channel and this old lady killed her two sons who were dying of Huntington’s disease. (They asked her to do it if they had to go to hospice care) Mind you, her husband and her mother in-law died of this disease and she watched them die and prevented her husband from committing suicide (he even watched his mother die) I support it. I wouldn't want my family to suffer seeing me die from some horrible incurable disease. I would rather have a physician assisted suicide, and/or sign the documents refusing resuscitation. What is your opinion?

lilmisstickletoo, that's a great response. But like any law made in this country, people will try to abuse it or take advantage of it regardless. That's just the way it is.....unfortunately

I agree with you. No one deserves to suffer like that.

I feel (since I was asked lol) that is is the human thing to do. That is if asked to help someone end there suffering.
In todays world so many people are so self centered they would rather watch someone die then to think of the person who is in pain dieing and what there wishes are. If the person has a terminal decease in pain or not and wants to die now then later this is there choice.....
Anyhoo in Oregon we still have laws on this very subject.

It's kinda interesting how it's wrong to do it to a human but if an animal is very sick or dying it quite all right to put it out of it's misery. It's “humane” for the animal so the animal doesn't suffer. Yet it's quite all right if a person suffers, even drug them up and keep them on life support so they live longer. Regardless if it's legal or not people who suffer like this have the opinion to kill themselves. Which can be rather horrible ways to go. If they could legally choose to go their family could be there to say their last good byes and the person could peacefully go.

Good question!! Euthinasia is definately the way to go, and is actually legal in some countrie, Holland being one that I know. If a person is sufferring with no chance of recovery then why not put them to rest. We do it for our pets after all.
It is a last resort and many people can abuse it but in theory it's a great and humane way to go, a death with dignity

My first instinct is to agree. However, I believe that it would open Pandora's Box. After they make it legal to uthinize the termally ill at the person's request. What other laws will arise? What about the ederly that have decided they are ready? Who would be responsible for drawing the lines and where would those lines be drawn?

My father died of brain cancer, and it was a rather long and drawn out process of dying. However, for most of the last week, he was unconscious. We gave him morphine to control pain we weren't sure if he had, but the last three days were really miserable. His breathing was loud and raspy, he was not on any sort of life support, so was literally dying of dehydration, and it was absolutely horrible to watch. We knew death was imminent, and a little extra morphine would have put him out of his misery and us out of ours. But, it was a line I could not bring myself to cross, because I'm not God, and I have a long life ahead of me. I didn't think I could wake up every day for the rest of my life and be ok with myself if I did it. I totally understand the idea. In theory, I totally support the idea, but in practice, it's something I came to realize I just could not do.

It is free will. If a person wants to die, and they've made the choice, they're going to do it, with or without help. IMO, it is much more humane to help them go peacefully, and without pain.

I think people should have the right to make their own "end of life" decisions. Of course the republicans prefer big intrusive government and think the government should decide if we have that right or not.
