In order to have meaning, it must correspond to what is true.
Reality is perceptual, perceived by the mind. Consciousness, A.K.A. Reality, cannot be mutually exclusive from other forms of consciousness, because that which is real would be juxtaposed with unreality, a contradiction. Ergo, the multiplicity of separate conscious entities are all aspects of a uniform substrate, otherwise there would be distinctly separate entities with no medium of interaction.
Thus the conclusion is that there exists only ONE true
consciousness and all of the ostensibly separate
conscious entities are actually permutations and combinations of
the multiplicity of all possible states of existence.
Levels of meaning stratify the search for truth and an ultimate truth could be beyond our cognitive faculties at this time.

There is this place on the Internet called: "Soon You Will Understand...The Meaning Of Life"
http://www.themeaningoflife.org/Welcome.htm
At first I thought this question was just another kid playing, or some joke, and it may be. What's funny (as in odd/funny), is that when I read your question, I typed it out and pushed the enter button.
I found this website and started reading it and it actually gives a lot of really good answers. Thank you for asking your question because it led me to that website and now I have it bookmarked in my favorites.

Deep question. :) It's different for everybody. Whatever spin you put on your own life is what it's all about. Mine is my philosophies, my family & my writing. Some people put more importance on their work or school.
If you're talking about the broader scope, like why were we all created and why do we keep replenishing the earth, check out the bible. I don't believe a reason was ever given for our existence, but we're here, so we make the best of it. :)
Have a happy life, my friend.

To me, this life is to prepare for the Heaven.
Meanwhile, to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us, if we only choose to look.
There are so many terrible events going on. War, death, children being murdered..
If I can do ONE (or hopefully many) thing for someone that shows them I care and that I want nothing in return for it, then that gives a huge meaning to my life.
If I help one person find Christ, then my whole life has been full of meaning.

Everyone will tell you a different answer, but you will hear similar themes such as survival, pursuit of happiness, power, wealth, knowledge, enlightenment, or just going home with the cute girl(s)/guy(s) you saw, making copies of yourself, etc.
It's whatever that brings meaning to YOU. If nothing brings meaning to your life, then nothing has meaning in life, as far as you care.

There is no objective answer to this question, however, the answer may be subjective to the psyche of the entire human race.
The meaning of life is to survive and stave off death so we may qualify everything in our lives that we individually attribute meaning towards. When the threat of mortality faces us all, it is buried in the psyche of every reasoning hominid that life itself is pointless and there is no sense in starting what will never be completed; what will perish eventually. That thought makes everyone cringe and struggle in vain to attain immortality so as to qualify the individually subjective meaning in any one particular reasoning being's life.
This is brought about by egoism, and the feeling that we should all be important in some way or another. When faced with our certain demise it makes people afraid that there is no point in living and can cause a human to want to die so as not to feel the suffering of this realization. The suffering of meaninglessness is due to the fact that people rationalize in their minds, that whatever meaning they may attain, is all for naught when that meaning, along with one's life, will eventually be condemned to the grave. Egoism dictates that we must endure and survive so as to qualify the very meaning of our own existence. It is in my opinion that most life shall mutate into this way of reasoning which is now very primal to us humans.
So, we sate these desires of immortality in a number of ways. The most popular one is to believe blindly, albeit there is no proof, in a deity that will save us all from the torment and suffering of the abyss that gravitates us into it. Basically, we strive for meaning as human beings, making the meaning of life, 'meaning' itself. In order for this meaning to be qualified, it must endure for eternity. Therefore, the meaning of life is to negate death and survive in hopeless attempts at qualifying our meaning. If all things end, than nothing has mattered. And if one human being cannot survive for eternity, then we struggle to allow 'humanity' to survive for eternity. If Humanity cannot accomplish that, then it is in the psyche of all humans that our meaning will live on forever in the minds of future species, if they could even decipher it.
Summarily, the meaning of life is to survive, and negate death.
Meaning, being the expression of a living form.

Reproduction, further the species and broaden the gene pool. There is much more that people will say on here about this subject but in the end none of it matters. Biology beats out philosophy any day.

Some people say ..."Cape Diem, Carpe Diem", others say desire is evil, some say there is a God, others beleive there is no God, some people beleive it is to accumulate material possessions, others beleive material possessions are meaningless, some people say life is meaningless, others say everything happens for a reason, some say truth should be objective some say truth should be subjective, some say life is suffering, some say that bliss is the purpose of life....
