Oscar Wilde is my favorite, he showed chills of horror in "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and had laughs in "The Importance of being Ernest". William Shakespeare and Langston Hughes also falls in my fave list, I was Juliet in our school production of Romeo and Juliet.
My favorite quotes:
Did my heart love till now?
For swear it sight!
For I never saw true beauty till this night!
-William Shakespeare
To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.
-Oscar Wilde
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life in a broken winged bird
That cannot fly
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow
-Lanston Hughes
I have nothing to offer you but my strength for your defense, my honesty for your surety, my ability and industry for your livelihood, and my authority and position for your dignity.
-Bernard Shaw

I might be typical here, but the Bard all the way. I think King Lear is a favourite--along with Midsummer Night's Dream. The first time I saw a Shakespeare play live, I was mesmerized.

Overall my favorite is Tom Stoppard. I think that history be consider him to be the Shakespeare of our time. Read "Arcadia" and you see what I mean. Like Shakespeare its layers seem endless and it's subtle truths really make you think.
Another that rivals Stoppard is Edward Albee. Albee is able to make you laugh and cry and that same time and leave you feeling disturbed for weeks after seeing one of his plays. He really challenges our values and what we take for granted as truth and morality.
