Here's what happened:
In 1993, James Jordan was driving home in North Carolina in his red Lexus. It was during the night and Mr.Jordan had gotten tired so he pull over to the side of the road and decided to take a little nap. While sleep two teenage boys robbed Mr.Jordan by beating him then shooting him then through him in a lake. The two boys were found later because they stole the championship ring that Michael Jordan gave to his father and was caught with it.

Both assailants were convicted and sentenced to life in prison.

he died when two teenagers tried to take his car he resisted and they shot him. that's right that shot michael jordan's father. the two were convicted and sentences to life in prison without proole the date was july 22 1993 right after that michael went to play baseball

The two yutes who killed him had no idea who he was until after they did it. James Jordan was driving a fancy car that Michael had bought for him, and he had one of Michael's rings with him.
It was his father's murder that led Michael to retire from the NBA (for the first time). Although Michael said he wanted to spend time with his family, he ended up trying his hand at a baseball career instead. His family never saw him, as he spent the next couple of years riding around the back roads of America on buses, on his way to his next minor league game.
When one of his kids asked their mother "Momma, how come Daddy retired to spend more time with us, and we STILL never see him", their mother replied "I wish I knew, child, I wish I knew".

he died i believe in 1996 94 or 95 i kno its in one of those three years he pulled over fell asleep in his car and someone shot him
