I'm a freshman in HS, and in my Literary Seminar class, we are to examine ourselves fully - and create two pieces of art (drawn, short story, or poetry) which depict our two "selves" - one for how we project ourselves/how we're perceived, and one for how our conscience sees us. I chose poetry - and so I need to write two poems. I haven't really started at all.

The problem is - it's due on Tuesday and I'm short on inspiration and my mind has completely shut off. My plan is to write down all brainstorms/ideas today - really flesh it out - and take a couple hours tomorrow to work on the poetry. Any ideas on how to tap into my creative self, do some deep probing, etc - really fast? As in, I have about two hours for this today and I should start in the next half hour.

Thank you so much!

XD i've had this problem!

What you should do, in my opinon, is this: Take a piece of paper and a pen. Sit down, and decide on a time to start. Then, write anything and everything that comes to mind. EX) i start. as i start, i say go, so i write go, then whatever comes to my mind next, and on and on. Also set a stop point, like a minute or two after.

Write EVERYTHING that comes to mind, even if its "This is so stupid". it helps. XD learned it from my art teacher. The surrealists used it, but it was originally developed for writers.

Hope it helps!

First of all Relax and get in a comfortable position. Then do whatever comes easiest for me it would be writing it on my computer, since I have an issue about pen and paper. After brainstorming and coming up with some words to describe myself, taking a break is a must, but before going to bed go back to the list and see what you think describes me.

Then write your poems and sleep on them and all you hav to do tomorrow is go back and edit them.

Hope it works for you,

there is not any longer something impolite nor immature in my answer (till a Feminist deems it to be). I limit the term "Feminist" to its use interior the favourite era, i.e. post 1985 wherein the biggest leaders of Feminism are Gloria Steinem, G. Greer & the previous due A. Dworkin. Feminists are (back, interior the favourite era) are a purely hate-pushed group. The philosophy of recent Feminism relies on hatred of adult males and people who disagree with this philosophy. Now in case you have been to contain this on your classification project, you will in all probability get a foul grade (because of the fact they do no longer prefer to pay attention the actuality), they like to pay attention approximately "equality" and "salary gaps" and "patriarchies" and nonsense like that. yet i'm telling your the actuality. Use the actuality at your discretion.

Position yourself comfortably in front of a mirror and tell the person you see, exactly what you see in that person....writing it down.
