Well it always depends on the person. But for some people- it is that bad. Sometimes I have cramps so bad- I can't get out of bed. So she most likely is. I think I've only used that excuse once or twice to get out of things. hope it helps! and don't take her yelling to seriously!!

With the hormonal changes at that time, you can expect mood swings. It is not just an excuse just to "slack off and be a "B_ _ _ _". However, you might want to sit down with her (when it's over) and discuss how THE BEHAVIOR is making YOU feel. Let her know that you have observed a difference in the way you are being treated during this time and that you don't appreciate it and you would like to help her in possibly changing the behavior. Whatever you do, DO NOT make it about her being a *#$%^.
As for the physical symptoms of a period, these vary greatly from woman to woman. some women have little or no symptoms, where others may have very severe cramping, bloating, sensitive breasts, irritability and general intolerance for just about any thing.

Well it does depend on the girl but really a lot of the time a girl isn't bull****ing you. Girls can get painful cramps when they have their periods and yes they do hurt! For some reason our hormones can go crazy and we get emotional (this explains the yelling at you cause we can overeact about stuff when this happens). Unfortunately sometimes girls do use it as an excuse but most of the time they aren't.

Its not so much that it hurts but consider this, every month a woman goes through major hormone fluctuations and bloating at that time of the month which could make for a very crabby female, your clothes don't fit right because of the water retention, you are crampy, and tired, and just don't feel like putting up with people. How would you feel if once a month, your penis started to painfully swell and cramp, and you bloated so bad you couldn't fit into your jeans?

Yes, it really hurts.
You have cramping (imagine a leg cramp, but in your lower belly), and you can have bloating. And I'm sure there's a host of other things that other women have that I can't think of right now. It depends on the person as to which symptoms they have, but the most common one is cramping.
Oh and not to mention it's just gross and a pain in the a** to deal with.
There can be problems in between periods, too. The most common one is PMS (pre-menstrual syndrome), due to hormonal changes. It mostly affects mood and emotions, but can affect other things too, such as body temperature and balance (sounds weird, I know, but it's true).
Of course, for some women, having their periods is painless, and the time between them is moodiness-free.
And of course there will be some women who will use this excuse not only for legitimate reasons, but also to suit their own convenience. (Wouldn't you?)
Give her some slack. But also don't let yourself be mistreated.

For some women yes, for many women especially teens, no. It's just an excuse to be a ***** once and awhile. Instead of focusing on the fact that it's 'that time of the month' why not think about her feelings?

For most women, yes, it is THAT bad. Before i had my daughter, I wouldn't be able to get out of bed it was so bad. And the biting everyone's head off, yeah, that was bad too. Having a baby completely got rid of the cramps, but NuvaRing, a type of birth cntrol, got rid of the mood swings. Try to be nice to her during PMS, she is not trying to make excuses.

I think all women are different. I'm lucky and get no cramps or anything. Sometimes I get a little moody (but I can be anytime lol).
Some of my friends are pretty unlucky tho. One can hardly get out of bed when its that time of the month.

extreme cramping may be a demonstration of having your era. I had undesirable cramps a minimum of a week or 2 before my first era even started. So wait it out and if not something comes, bypass to the wellness practitioner.

it really, really varies. some girls are fine, while others are terrible.
I personally tend to get really moody and *****y, so i can understand your girlfriend's predicament. try to be understanding, and sigh and wait for it to be over.
as for actually "hurting," (physical pain) this also varies ALOT. some girls (me) get horrible horrible unbearable cramps, which can also put you in a bad mood.
usually it's not DURING that "time of month" but before that girls p.m.s.
