Let me explain why I asked this....Preachers, Bishops, etc., in the
church have been sued and imprisoned because of past abuse of
children.....Millions of dollars awarded. I mean we're talking 20-25
yrs., ago...maybe more. OK,...so why can't I press charges and
put the two freaks who tried to rape and kill me ??( had a gun). I
was only 16 yrs., when they did that. I was never the same. I knew
them, they were from the neighborhood. So they knew where I
lived at. I was scared they would come after me if I pressed
charges. I knew they would have. So, I just tried to forget about it.
But, just out of curiosity.....I called the Govenor's office in CA, to
see what their Statue of Limitations was....it was like 3-5 years.....
Now, I wish I could put them in prison so no one else would go
thru that....way to late they said. To bad. We'll go after the preachers.....after 25 yrs., but not the really dangerous ones. The
Sof L protects the CRIMINALS.

So, if I had be KILLED. Then I could have
been a cold case. And MAYBE my family
could have had Detectives re-open my
"case". Does that really make sense you ?
But I LIVED. Children are not the only
victims in this world. And the fact is our LAWS need to be updated. Especially for
violent crimes. I had no choice, I COULDN'T prosecute them. They meant
to kill me. So, life isn't fair, but neither is the
Legal System......it needs a complete over-
haul. What do these Supreme Court people do all day ?? Where is all the State
Legislators?? I just do not understand....
Some person has to go on the NEWS these days and make a big fuss and cause
a big stink....to get any attention..and get
something DONE. Animals like that, should
never be let out of prison. They will do it
again, until they're finally caught.

Yes, PROOF is needed. But I have that, and so do the police detectives. My situation is a little unique, but there was a
little 14 yr old mexican kid, who was to
testify against gang members. He was killed. No witness. The police should have given him PROTECTION. But, it is to much
to ask of our Government. He died trying to
do the right thing.....THAT is sad. Really.

Statue of limitation protects people from accusation going WAY WAY into the past. Such allegations have miserably small chance of success, all they do is bog down the system making it impossible to prosecute criminals who might actually get convicted.
5 years is MORE then enough for a reasonable person to file a complaint.
Additionally Sof L protect minor victims by not starting to toll until the person is old enough to realize that he/she was wronged. IN cases of sexual abuse of minors Sof L usually tolls from the time a minor reaches 18.

For murder, sexual abuse or rape; there should be no "Statute of Limitations". I think it is the problem of proof. I just saw a women on TV the other day, who had been raped and molested for years by her clergy.
He was forced to leave the church, but nothing was done. She had just seen him on TV a little while ago, and he was still working with children in a church in Idaho or Montana. Because of her story they are bringing him back to CA, and are going to prosecute him.
I think if you can locate them, and find out if they are still doing things, you can have them prosecuted.

There are many wrongs done to people to to the point where it takes years to get the courage to seek justice. The Statue of Limitations should be abolished So every criminal should have to be afraid till the day they die of being prosecuted for their crimes!!

I think it the years should be increased like rape from 5 years to 10 years, but abolishing it in totality is wrong.

I'm sorry for what happened to you. But the statute of limitations is there for a purpose. Just because it did not work out in your scenario, it doesn't mean that it's a bad thing.

i truly understand. and I think the statute of limitations should be raised if not outright removed in some cases-especially were minor victims are involved
