Well in today's dollars, a set of replacement batteries for a hybrid may run from $2000 to $3000, but I have seen higher prices quoted. It all depends on make and model and how many batteries are in the vehicle (it is not just one big battery, but rather several batteries connected together). You would also have to add on the labor to do the replacement.
I saw a quote for the battery for a Honda Insight and that was at around $3600.

First it would help if you asked the question in the proper manner. I believe that you meant: "How much will a Hybrid Car Battery cost 8 years from now?" or "What will the cost of a Hybrid Car Battery be in 8 years?"
Secondly, this question is impossible to answer with anything more than pure speculation since no-one knows if the technology will even still be in use in 8 years let alone what the market conditions will be.

At this time, whole assembly, include battery cell, temperature/current/voltage sensors, and Junction board will cost you $1,226.75 + labor cost. This assembly can be replaced as a single unit, so labor won't cost you thousands.
Even-thought, Honda have 8 years of warranty, they believe the battery will be last long as the car.
At this time, nobody knows how much it will cost after 8 years. I am sure it will be reasonably higher than price of battery now.

about $6,000. DON'T buy a hybrid. buy a full gas car that gets the same or better gas mileage. this way you won't have to pay $6,000 in 8 years, probably even sooner.
