Soft water adds to the problem, try scrubbing the tub with Ajax and perhaps a different brand of soap as well. Perhaps the soft water is not dissolving the soap well enough
Is this new house? If so, perhaps defective tub?? I would buy a large mat that can't slip, like those foam things until you get the problem solves. The foam I'm talking about is sold by the yard at home centers, or even astro turf type stuff. Better than breaking a hip or a skull fracture.

You know and many people aren't aware of the treatments available. There is a revolutionary treatment, it's a mild blend of chemicals that when applied to any slippery surface can make that surface, like a bathtub, shower less slippery. Actually, the treatment I offer here in Indiana, can make your bathtub as safe wet as dry.
I understand your frustration. But, there are solutions out there and very cost effective. Most In Home Accidents in your bathroom, around the bathtub.
You know, Each year thousands of people slip while bathing. Slippery bathtubs, showers and slippery bathroom floors are especially hazardous to the very young and the elderly.

Did you try the stick-on strips? You can get them at Wal-Mart. Maybe you could sand the bottom of the tub to make it more textured. Check with a store such as Home Depot or Lowes if you live in the U.S.
Or, your kids could try flip-flops or water socks while showering. Not sure if that would work. Some water socks are textured on the bottom. Flip flops may still be too slippery.

the only thing you can really do is get a large mat that covers the entire bottom (they do make them) It really wouldn't matter if the suction cups work or not. You want to take it up after using it anyway. left in the tub it develops mold and mildew underneath.

Clean the tub with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and some baking soda. Rinse thoroughly. Dry the tub as best you can with a towel, then let it air dry.
Never use an abrasive cleanser such as Comet or Ajax on your tub, it will cause serious problems later.

there are some rough pads in different shapes/designs that you can buy that are like tough stickers - stick em right onto the bottom. don't know where you'd get them, but probably avail. at home depot, ace, etc. look on their web sites for starters. :-)

You might be able to use anti-skid self-adhesive strips. They are sold in the bathroom and plumbing department at Walmart, Target, etc.
