Somewhat, anyway. Field position battles are key in many football games. A good (or bad) punter can have a great impact on the outcome of such a game.

Punters are very underrated, and they are a huge factor every game, as they influence field position in a big way. Perfect example, take the Texans vs. Cowboys game yesterday. The Texans shut down Dallas their first 2 drives, and Dallas's punter Matt McBriar boomed a 75-yard punt that went out of bounds at the 2-yard line. Heck of a punt. Because they pinned the Texans so deep, they ended up getting the ball back at the Texans 45 yard line and this helped them out tremendously, as they were finally able to get something going offensively. They ended up winning 34-6, and their punter averaged 56 yards a punt with no touchbacks, and 2 inside the 20. Perfect day punting.

Not in the slightest - they have one simply job - put the ball where we want it.

At semi-pro level; you don't get to pick Punter as a position.
Our team Punter is our kicker AND my starting Cornerback.

Punters are not underated.

No, I don't think so. We have a really good punter (Bidwell) and he gets plenty of mention during the games and after the games when he does well.
