I no longer have a psychiatrist, and I quit taking the prozac 40 mg 3 days ago. I feel lightheaded, nauseated, and flu like. Or should I wait it out or call the internist tomorrow?

You'll be ok until tomorrow. Prozac is one of the easier ones to come off of. But watch yourself everyone is different. You really should have weened off of it.

Yes! Go to the ER! I quit taking Zoloft cold-turkey and was sicker than I had ever been - That type of medication is meant to be constantly in your bloodstream and withdrawl is really bad. If you are taking it for emotional/depression reasons then you need to get back on track. Many people stop their medication and feel so out of it and bad that it's easy to give into bad thoughts...Please go back to the doctor anyway - It's really bad to stop taking a prescibed medication! Hope you feel better soon!

You still have it in your system and it may take from 2 wks to 30 days to fully get it out of your system. Doctors sometimes have counteracting medicines that can lessen your symptoms. An herbalist would tell you to detox yourself but if you don't believe in that then yes go see if the doctor has something to lessen your symptoms. Good luck.

there's no need to go to the ER with prozac withdrawal symptoms. are you doing this under the supervison of your family doctor and/or psychiatrist? if not, please see a doctor asap.
you need to be gradually tapered off any anti-depressant. to suddenly stop (cold turkey) taking any anti-depressant is apt to cause severe emotional rebound, seizures, shaking, tremors,
lightheadedness, etc.
unless your doctor directed this sudden elimination of prozac from your medicine routine----GO BACK ON IT IMMEDIATELY.
DO NOT BEGIN THE PROCESS AGAIN, WITHOUT PROPERLY NOTFIYING YOUR DOCTOR SO HE/SHE CAN MONITOR YOUR WITHDRAWAL. IT'S THE ONLY SAFE WAY.
i know this from personal experience w/the drug----paxil.

If you feel that you might hurt yourself, please go to the emergency room. If the symptoms you are experiencing continue to be your only symptoms, you should be able to wait it out. I am not a doctor.
