Wal-Mart pays low wages, and usually no benefits, because most employees are part-timers.

Wal-Mart also sells mostly stuff produced in China or other low wage foreign nations. So American aren't making any of the goods.

Wal-Mart puts smaller Mom and Pop stores out of business whenever they move into an area.

Another reason liberals hate Wal-Mart, is because it is incredibly successful. Liberals hate when businesses succeed wildly, unless they are union shops and paying protection money to the Democrat Party.

Lastly, Wal-Mart has been a wildly successful anti-poverty program that has nothing to do with the government. It's done more to help millions of the poor afford goods than any gov't program has.

I didn't know it was a liberal thing.. I consider myself towards the middle of the political spectrum, but I haven't liked WalMart since the late 80's or early 90's when they were part of a Dateline or 20/20 investigation.. It turns out that many of their clothes were made by 9 year olds in Bangladesh, and when they tried to ask the president of Walmart about it he was just straight nasty about refusing to discuss it and and made no attempt to portray them in a favorable light.

I haven't followed them much lately, except that it's pretty well known that a huge percentage of their employee's don't earn a living wage and qualify for food stamps and all kinds of other government benefits based on how poor they are working there.

I know they hate walmart because it's making money. They want walmart to have a union, which of course like everything else a union is involved in would make it totally non profitable thus the business would go away all together. So what you would end up with would be a failed business and a bunch of unemployed union workers.
I'm a republican and I hate walmart, but not for this reason.

Why does anybody hate wal-mart.? They provide jobs. Not just clerk jobs either. They employ truck drivers, managers, restaurant workers, farmers, construction workers, building services, etc.etc.
Think about the number of people that handle wal-mart products before it reaches store shelves. There are packaging companies, shipping companies, credit card and bank employees. Wal-mart is is one of the biggest gears that keeps our countyr's economy going.
And I challenge anybody to prove that there isn't at least one item in their home that didn't originate in some form, or have at least one part that isn't from China.
All of the major retailers sell products from china. Including Home Depot, Lowes, Target, Kmart, Macys, Sears, Pennys. everybody sells Chinees products.
If you are going to hate and boycott wal-mart, you have to be fair and hate and boycott all the rest of them. If you don't, you are a hypocrite.
There are thousands of American companies that only hire part-time employees, so they don't have to give them benifits. I'll name a few of the big ones, Home Depot, Lowes, Sears, Pennys, McDonalds, BurgerKing, Firestone, bubbas hardware store, mom and pops grocery store, aunt millies tea shop. You name it, they employe part-time workers. Many of them work a person twenty nine hours, so that they don't hit thirty, which is considered full time in some states.
Wal Mart and the big box stores do not destroy small businesses. Most of the time, they help make the small businesses become stronger. By causing the small businesses to carry products of better quality, and increasing their profit margins. They may not sell as much product as they previously did, the make the same or more profit. That depends on the small business owner's intelligence. If the big boxes actually destroyed small business, then why are the parking lots at Lowes and home depots jammed with trucks and vans owned by small businesses such as carpenter's, painters, lawn maintenance, plumbers, electricians, tile setters etc? Before the big boxes, these people had to travel miles and wait for weeks for materials, now it's just a drive down the street, run in, run out and make lots of money by turning over the jobs much quicker.
Liberals hate everything. Because they are too blind to see the big picture.
Here are some other companies that don't pay their employees a living wage. Walt Disney, Universal, Office Depot, Staples, CompUSA, Ritz Camera, BoatUS, Family Dollar, Dollar General, Dennys, Any Darden Restaurant, etc.etc.etc.

Because Walmart is the bane of the small businessmen. They are big and powerful. They can buy bigger bulk so they can sell cheaper. Once they come into an area they run the small guy out of business because he can't compete. They have become a monopoly and the government need to step in and break them up like it did w/Ma Bell some 20 plus years ago.

I think it's mostly blue-collar, union employees who hate Walmart, because they are attacking the fabric of the working class. There are LOTS of people who have worked at Walmart, and have been screwed over badly.
THEY.... and their family members who know how horrible they were treated... hate Walmart. What goes around comes around, and the Walmart management is finding that out.

I'm not a liberal and I hate Wal-Mart! I consider myself independent. I used to work for wal-mart and it was one of the worst jobs I ever had. They are always understaffed. There is never enough help, and their managers are poorly trained. And another thing: Their wages are extremely low! I mean how do you expect someone in southern California to make it on $7.00 per hour? Its flat out rediculous! Wal-Mart seems to be getting off the hook way to often. They should be punished for their greed.

You ever buy stuff at Home Depot? Crap, all crap. Cheesy products, help that doesn't know what they are doing, and are wrong as often as they are right - not that you can get any help usually.

Before Home Depot there was quality and service with the same or better prices. But those places are gone for the most part.

Who told you that, CRAP, in general, Traditional conservatives hate Wal-Mart, neo-conservatives love Wal-Mart, and liberals love Wal-Mart.

Traditional Conservatives: They don't like how Wal-Mart buys so much from China and not from the domestic market

Neo-Conservatives: They love big companies, global economy, and laissez faire economics

Liberals: They like Wal-Mart because it gives the poor jobs, and offers cheap goods

It shows them the futility of trying to control trade. All the trade barriers they plan so carefully are dashed in every aisle at Walmart.
