Yes, there is a 'preview' button. It is next to the settings button under Screen Saver.

Find out where your screensavers are. In Windows xp, they should be in C:\WINDOWS\system32\*.scr
On your desktop, make a shortcut to your chosen screensaver.
(On a blank space, do a rightclick and click on New then Shortcut and then browse or type in your screensaver filename and path.)
Now, when you click on it, your screensave will automatically start. If you need it faster than that, set up a hotkey. Rightclick your screensaver icon, click Properties, click Shortcut and then in Shortcut key, enter a key combination that your computer doesn't use for anything. Ctrl + Alt + s worked for me. When you finish that, using that key combination will automatically click you into screensaver mode.

Yes you can set a "hot key" that will engage the screensaver. You do this under the desktop properties.

You can go to the control panel and where you choose your screensaver, you can also choose how long before it comes on. I think mine is set for like 30secs or a min.....It comes on really fast, and sometimes when I am online reading something... so annoying

Get into the Desktop Properties and get into the Screen Saver section. (Use Right Click on the Desktop and pick PROPERTIES). Then hit the PREVIEW button.
Quick... do it again.
