why or why not............. what might happen if cell membrane were permeable insted of selective;y permeable?

If the membrane were permeable then the inside of the cell would become exactly like the environment outside the cell...thus becoming non living.. As for diffusion, osmosis is a form of diffusion...water going from an area of higher concerntration to lower concentration and osmosis is an extremely important function for cells.

no they could not survive. They would swell up really bad and lose functionality.
