I use the plastic organizers for craft beads and other craft supplies. (size is about 10 inches by 8 inches maybe) They are flat with dividers and some even have the dividers that can be moved to make the individual compartments larger. They work great for rings or necklaces and pins and charms. I put my sterling silver in very small zip-lock bags (the ones that come with a new shirt with the extra buttons inside) to keep it from tarnishing. The organizers work great and are very inexpensive and fit inside my dresser drawer for safe keeping. Cost about $2.50 for the small one more for the larger ones.

My son use to use a tackle box for his chains and jewelry. Seemed like a good idea to me. They have many sizes of dividers. A tie rack works nice too. Keeps them from tangling if you hang them.

Store them by hanging. Put a few hooks on your closet wall or buy a necklace cabinet.

i use those old little lip gloss pots and put one necklace in each pot, well only for nicer necklaces, but ya, they never get tangled.
