i just want to put cheap tires on the jeep, cause im going to be selling it, so id like to maybe put 225 or 235's on, but i want to make sure they will fit the rim. so typically how much smaller can you go and still fit the rim you have on now.

Just go to a tire shop and tell them your selling it so put the cheapest donuts they got on it. I wouldn't bother putting anything on it since your it's being sold.

you should have a sticker on the driver door stating what size tires are allowed for your vehicle. Most centers that sell tires have a book with the recomended tire sizes. Dont go too small, it will affect the jeeps ability to handle turns and make it unsafe. Go with what the mfg recomends.
good luck

PS>>. Some garages sell good used tires as do junkyards. Some of these tires are like new too.

well if the label on the door states 205's then its best to put 205's on the jeep , bigger sizes ans to small of size can affect the driving as well as the gas milage
