Ed Bradley did a great job at presenting the facts and offered both sides to participate in the reporting. I believe the lack of honest physical evidence, combined with the fact the boys took the lie detector tests and passed and that lack of DNA shows the girl may have been lying.

The D.A. came across as just wanting to court the black vote during an election year in an attempt to falsely prosecute the boys at Duke University. Even when presented with the evidence, the D.A. would not back down from the accusation he made against the boys.

I think the D.A. should be brought up on charges by the bar association for trying the case in the public and making a campaign issue of the matter. The charges against the boys should be looked at by the State of North Carolina or whatever federal agency oversees matters of false prosecution and prosecutorial misconduct.

You're playing games with numbers. First, it's actually 38 years since 1966 was not a presidential election year. Next the incumbent of either party always has an advantage. Nixon in 72, Reagan in 84, Clinton in 96 and Bush in 2004 have taken advantage of it. Despite the publicity of the Duke rape case the democrats still won control of the House and the Senate, something most analysts were not predicting would happen. One more thing. Forgetting the Florida recount in 2000 more people nationally voted for Gore than voted for Bush. Not exactly a mandate. The peculiarities of our electoral college system gave Bush the presidency. Finally the idea that the entire African American community owes an apology to the entire nation because of an overzealous prosecutor is beyond ludicrous.

The Sixty Minutes broadcast is still going on, but what caught my eye was when Ed Bradley said that the journalist team has done an investigation over the past six months and that it appears there was no rape and that the guys are being unfairly accused. There are many, many shady journalists on television, but the Sixty Minutes team is NOT one of them. They have the most outstanding reputation, and that says a lot in this day of voyeur journalism.

That said, the interview with the other stripper shows that the girl wasn't raped.

Boil it down to its essence and it's a case of prosecutorial misconduct to have a case for re-election and the whole witch hunt against so called sex offenders.

It seems there are two kinds of "rape" victims - those who haven't been raped but claim to have been for attention, or money or whatever and the ones who have been raped and traumatically so but will never go to the police because they don't want to drag the whole ugly affair into the open. This appears to be the first.

I certainly agree with Shelley's answer above; 60 Minutes is well respected and hardly resembles anything you'd see on a show the likes of Hard Copy or Current Affair. 60 Minutes isn't perfect, but I highly doubt they're out to crucify the alledged rape victim.

What struck me as odd earlier on, was the stripper's account of the timeline. Her timing of the events just didn't seem to add up from the start. And the other stripper wasn't exactly backing up her story, either.

I hope this story goes away. It's like beating a dead horse black and blue. There are plenty of other newsworty stories that warrant our attention. The Duke rape case just seems like tabloid fodder.

I feel the whole thing is a mess but mainly because the DA used and spun the whole thing into a nice tangled web to lead to is re-election. First that young lady what ever happened to her needs help, her life is out of control to the point she is destroying other lives with her delusions. Second every solitary sorry SOB, students, faculty members need to personally apologize to those Duke players once the truth comes out. Third the DA should be held be sued by the former Duke players for defamation of character. He used is power and the media and the sad situation to further his career at the expense of those young men, the reputation of the University and abuse the trust of the community.

The DA was running for re-election and felt that he needed to prosecute 3 Duke students to gain favor with the black vote.

All 3 Duke students will walk out of that courtroom with acquittals unless the DA decides to fall on his sword and drop the case.

i think they are innocent, and yes the "victim" will probably call it a racial case if she loses and try to get more money. i think she was drunk and has no clue what happened and is a poor stripper trying to make money to support her kids. her credibility is question by three things her being drunk, her being a stripper, and the accused rapist alibi's. I think she's a lying drunk stripper looking for money and everything spun out of control and she still wants money and wants to defend her "honor" if she has any. I also think she will call the case racial if she loses and try to get more money. I say get a job and a life

Rich white kids always feel like they can get away with everything.

No- I don't think this is a racial case. i think its about ignorant boys who felt that they had a right to rape someone.

Yeah she may have been a stripper but she did not deserve to get raped.
