I won't cry. It'll be terrific when the Dow passes 12,000.

But seeing how the Dow was 11,224 in January of 2001 - that works out to be an annualized return of around 1%. If I were a Republican, I would hardly gloat over the performance of the stock market during Bush's terms.

If it does it is Clintons fault.

Actually the liberal Media uses the Dow as a economic smokescreen.

All it really means is the trading volume is high it does not represent value or worth.

Typically countries on the verge of disaster have record highs on the trading floor.

Check the record for the Baghdad Exchange just before Bush lowered the hammer.

Go big red Go

Once again there you go again. As a conservative I don't mind intelligent or witty put downs. This is neither. No one is going to be upset by this event. For one thing a lot of liberals own stocks, mutual funds, and have pensions. And besides though you disagree with them most liberals are patriots (I am not talking about leftie wonks as there are so many of).

Further, the stock market has a very small impact on politics and the upcoming election. It rates around 20th on people's concerns.

John Skerry! How are you??? Keep up the good work, we are down to less than 4 weeks!

PS--the reason the Dow is going up is because they are predicting the Democrats to win back the House!

I highly doubt many will. One thing you should notice, however, is that clinton got rid of the national deficit, George Bush put us in heavier debt than ever before. Just because we have a bull market does not imply economic health.

I hope it does it 12,000. I'm a liberal, small investor, and I think it's great! About time.

I made more money when clinton was in office than I ever did with Bush.
