i am gonna transfer from Oregon to California next year for school and i have no idea what city to choose or what would be cheapest as far as rent goes.. i will need a one bedroom apartment or studio

I suggest you try a roommate service, as well as the craigslist boards. L.A. is expensive, the Bay area might not be quite as bad... Will you be in Northern or Southern CA?
