after almost 50 years since conquest, after recent waves of regular-Chinese moving in, it's getting harder and harder for the Tibetan cause.

It is effectively part of China, whether or not it should be.

Yes, Tibet is part of China. No matter what you want to say, Tibet really even close to independance. Support for a "free Tibet" is almost non-existant within China (no surprises there.) The only way for Tibet to acheive independance is from foreign pressure, and even Bush isn't stupid enough to waste his time, influence, and political ammunition on that.

It depends on who you ask. The Chinese certainly think so.
Tibet will always be Tibet to me.
