B-52s could end the war in Iraq in a month. It would destroy the insurgency, the terrorists, without any US troops losses and our troops would be home before Christmas.

Over 600,000 Iraqi civilians have already been killed since the war started. Would carpet bombing have some collateral damge, yes, but if the war could be won in a month if we bombed the Sunni triangle ONLY, then in the long run many thousands of Iraqi lives would be saved because the US could leave Iraq and there wouldn't be any more civil war.

Air ability became rather new interior the 40's and 50s and carpet bombing is now seen inefficient, ineffective and rather barbaric (some histories be conscious that the determination to bomb cities in WWII became rather unintended and then grew to become the status quo) Vietnam era Arc easy (B-fifty two) strikes have been commonly limited to straightforward or ability intense troop concentrations interior the South and key commercial centers interior the North. B52s could truthfully no longer end the conflict in a month yet that sentiment around airpower has been around because of the fact the discovery of the airplane. on an identical time as airpower is a huge asset and tension multiplier, the air tension has by no ability -repeat by no ability-carried out each and every thing it claimed it would desire to do. on the different bombing of civilians interior the Sunni triangle could alienate different Iraqis and jeopardize family members with even close allies

Actually, Sparky, WE didn't use "carpet bombing" in WW2. What the United States used was daylight precision bombing raids. Ok, so "precision" wasn't quite as precise as it is today, we still tried to hit ONLY military/industrial targets. The British used NIGHTTIME bombing raids utilizing incindiary munitions in order to create large firestorms to wipe out as much as possible of whatever they hit. This is the reason that we had the high attrition rates of bomber crews during 1943 and early 1944. We still had morals then, as much as is possible during warfare.

I prefer the Neutron bomb, as it would kill off the the bastards while not loading me up with rebuilding expenses. We could just tell the locals to get the hell out of dodge while this is underway; they could return to an insect-free paradise! Oh, and the ****-heads would all be dead too!
