What unique chacteristics define what a republican is and what a democrat is?

I am trying to understand what exactly it means to be a member of one of these parties.

The best way I've managed to look at it, seeing as neither party is exactly ideologically monolithic, is that the big difference seems to be how they would honestly answer the question "Which is more important in deciding political and governmental questions: liberty or equality?" I think Republicans generally would say liberty while Democrats would generally say equality. Now, with the religious right, this isn't so true, as the Republicans on the religious right get caught up in religious motivations in which the answer is neither liberty or equality, but God and faith.

I'm not saying that Republicans scorn equality and Democrats hate liberty. It's a very subtle point with lots of nuances. But at the end of the day, I think it's the key difference.

Democrats, believe in an active gov't helping people that are in need. We believe in diplomacy, and war as a last resort. A strong social and education system. A miltary for defense. For the working man!

Republicans, believe in a smaller govt. Minimal social assistance, and privitation of most gov't agencies. AND they believe in massive tax cuts(we can't afford), and higher deficits. A military that is worldwide. For the working wealthy and tax cuts for the rich.

Republicans support the wealthy and the Corporations. Democrats support the working class. very simple. History also proves this point as fact.

If you are a Republican, you stand for freedom, world peace, helping others, family values,God, everything good.

If you are a Demon-crap, you stand for every form of evil, sex with same sex, allowing men like Saddam to rule,and kill his own people,while you do nothing. everything evil.
