Great question! I believe that how we want our lives to turn out and if we're happy with it are choices. Let's face it, we all have trials that come in many forms: health issues, financial issues, negative experiences, annoying or abusive relatives, etc. I don't think that there is anyone out there that has really had EVERYTHING go right. And if they do, there are even challenges that go along with that.
Yet, we all get to choose how we interpret these events and choose to "roll with the punches" and learn from our experiences for the better or allow those experiences to make us bitter and negative.
A few years back I was diganosed with pre-cancer and had to go through about 18 months of surgeries, proceedures and had my life hanging in the balance, all while trying to support my family. It didn't make sense and it was one of the most difficult things I ever went through. As a result, my body has been altered in a way to where it doen't function as it used to. I struggled with this fact for many months, but finally took inspiration in people who are faced with seemingly impossible challenges in life and overcome them. That and a lot of prayer.
The key to a happy or successful life is to accept yourself and life for what it is and find contentment in it; not to compare yourself with others or make mental checklists of what material things you need to be acceptable. Find beauty in everything and everyone around you and have love for everyone. If a you can do this, you'll be the happiest person in the world!

Yes, I am happy with how my life is turning out, although it did not start out that way, I have had to deal with many of lifes' trials' many of them many times over, For the most part my life has been hard, but, only because that seems to be how I learn best. But I have done many things and for the most part have stayed with the gifts that were given to me(spiritual). When I look back over time, Yes there are things that I would have changed, ie: not leaving home at such an early age (13) and wish I retained communication with my family. But over-all I have no regrets as I believe that I have turned out well, and have never hurt anyone one, and I still believe in people. There are some things that I still have in my goals, and hope to achieve them. But I am very content with my life.

What a great question.
My answer is "Intermittently." I keep feeling the big magnet draw of anger and pessimism and hopelessness. I struggle with self-respect issues every day, like many people. I want to be liked by everyone, while realizing that a meaningless goal like that just sets me up for repeated disappointment.
Good luck.

I was pretty ecstatic about how my life was going until my precious precious father died suddenly and unexpectedly while I was visiting him with my children this year. Now, I'm pretty damned disappointed in life. Can't help it. I should say - wow, I had 45 great years with this incredible man, but I miss him so much, my kids miss him so much, my dh misses him so much, and my mother..... forget about it....

Most of the time, no. I've made a lot of mistakes in my life, and I'm still making them. If it's true that you learn from your mistakes, I should be brilliant by now.
