Movies come in cycles, and horror movies can be made pretty cheap and they make money. Of course if one movie makes it, another will be made - it's not about originality, it's about dollars and cents. Halloween helps right now, too.

Lots of people do like to be scared. I can handle that more than the actual horror - personally I don't like excess gore.

Is it warping our nation? Not by itself. We've had scary movies and scary books forever - I'm thinking taking it to the next level in video games could be affecting it more, after all, you can do almost anything in a game. So you see it, then you try it and hopefully you never do it for real.

I wonder if things are really worse or if we just hear about them more.

People have had a fascination with horror movies since the early days of films. Stars the likes of Lon Chaney, Boris Karloff, Vincent Price, and many others helped to make the need to get the crape scared out of you popular. I dont think it warps our nation, just remember its entertainment. They also take cycles in popularity. Some years only a couple will be made if any. Then one of those are a big hit and the next thing you know every studio trys to cash in on the popularity by trying to out do the others. I cant really explain why I like them I just do.

my favorite movies are horror, I'm super glad more of them are coming out now, and glad to see they are horrific and worth the money....guess i just like getting grossed out. BTW, horror movies are much better seen in a movie theater, well worth the money!

I don't think they are warping the nation anymore than the news on TV does.

Oh, I that half of the new movies were horror movies! Oh, wait, are you counting Jennifer Anniston movies? That might make it seem more horror movies are being made.

I look forward to the Halloween surge of horror movies but, sad to say, there aren't enough horror movies being made and, of the ones being made, some are awful but not scarey.

i don't like horror movies and dont go to see them...but i think they are making them because horror movies are easier to create......like they can be more original because its all based on peoples fears and its easy to create scary things!
