A lot of cars operate that way with no input from the driver. Some safety institute in Sweden found that cars with their headlights on at only 10% power are twice as visible and easier to judge the speed of by both pedestrians and other drivers.

It's a safety precaution and alot of new cars have a daytime running light feature which makes your lights stay on in the day.

It makes it easier for the other traffic to see you. It's much safer. Also, with some cars now, the lights automatically come on when you start your car and go off when you turn the key off.

Lots of cars have daytime running lights that you can't even turn off. Many people probably do not even realize they are on. Also, it has been suggested that having your lights on, even durring the day, makes you more noticable to other drivers.

! It's safer! Other cars can see you easier. In some countries, the lights must be on at all times when the car is moving.

For one, Safety. Here in Pa you have to have your headlights on in a construction site, And we're not talking fog lamps or running lights, Headlights. In SC, The saying is: If your wipers are on then your headlights HAVE to be on. Basically, Safety, But with most of today's new cars the headlights come on as soon as you turn the key on.

Statistically, having your car's headlights on in the daytime reduces the chance of a collision by increasing your visibility to other drivers... especially in overcast conditions, or weather conditions.

Many cars have daytime running headlights built into them. Mine does. It's a safety feature. As far as I'm concerned, all cars should have daytime running headlights.

Most newer general motors vehicle's headlights wont turn off at all unless you have the emergency brake on. The reasoning for this is saftey, but really it doesnt help.
