I just noticed some on my hood. How do I get rid of it?

rubbing compound, then a good wax, but the rubbing compound takes off paint so be careful. if rubbing by hand ok, but if using a buffer then dilute the compound with water.

There are different grades of compound to use- the above people mentioned rubbing compound; OK for quick cutting thru paint for refinish, but there is also polishing compound that would be better in your case. Both made by Duco and available in auto parts and paint stores.
Waxing afterward is good- do the whole car if there's time; they run better, you will notice.

If it is oxidation, a good wax job will perk it up, or spend some bucks and get a full "detail" job done on it. That would be especially good to do to protect your car with winter coming on. Your car will love you....

A good rubbing wax and lots of arm.
