I was 7 years old w/3 years ballet lessons taken. But I dont believe today it is common practice to start so early. I went to SAB soon afterwards and danced until i was injured at 19.

My daughter started on pointe when she was 11 1/2 after 5 years of dance. She took Cecchetti grades 1 & 2 (and had to pass exzams) before her studio would let her take begining pointe last year as well as grade 3 Cecchetti.
FYI Cecchetti is formal structured ballet training taught around the world.

i started when i was 13 after taking full ballet lessons for 3 years. however i feel like i am late to be starting pointe at 12. i think 11 is the usual age to start but it depends on how long your training is before you go en pointe. and i am now, still 13, so i just started this season and i loooove it!
