My parents are out at my little brothers hockey game and its swelling, doesnt look good. i`m guessing its broken, because of past problems. Any suggestions until the rents get home?

ok, i have broken my right foot twice, and sprained each one of my feet a couple of times each, as well as ankles. here is what you do for foot problems. R.I.C.E. Rest, Ice, compress, and elevate. this means obviously rest it, and GET SOME ICE ON IT. hop to wherever it is you keep your ice, and put the ice in a plastic bag, dont double bag it, or wrap it in a towel, put the bag directly on your foot, I even went as far as putting my foot in a bowl of cold water, with the ice bag on top, IT STINGS AT FIRST, but will go numb, and you wont even notice it in minutes. then, if you have a splint, after you ice it for 15 minutes on, 15 minutes off, multible times, wrap your foot tightly in a splint, not tight enough to cut off circulation, just tight, and then lay down on your bed, or couch, or whhatever, and put your foot on a pillow and some blankets, so it is elevated above your heart, when your folks get home, tell them to make a doctor apointment for you in the morning, like i said, i have multible injuries to my feet, and I still walk fine, but feet are nothing to play around with when it comes to injuries, if you have anymore questions about it, i can help, email me directly, hblo2234@yahoo.com, good luck

Take it out of your shoe or boot. Place a dry towel over it, and place a plastic bag with ice over the towel to decrease pain. Keep the towel dry, or change towels.
If you can take aspirin or Advil, take the recommended dose, no more. Elevate your foot by placing it on a chair, it will reduce throbbing, and sit and wait. It could have broken. If you have to move too much to do this, and have no help, just sit and place your foot at hip level.
Call for help if you need it, and sit still as much as possible.

Put ice on it, and then a heating pack. Rotating about every 15 minutes, a nd prop it up on a pillow. Put as little strain on it as possible. When putting ice and heat on it, do not apply it directly to the foot. Lay a towel in between you and the pack. Once your rents get home, explain your pains and recommend going to the doc. If you have been walking on it for a few weeks while it was broken then you may have done some damage. Good luck and feel better. :)

Take paracetamol (acetaminophen) if you are not allergic to it

Ibuprofen is another good pain relief

Get a bag of frozen peas or beans or something - or an ice pack

Get a good book

Lay down

elevate your foot on a pillow

put the ice pack (or peas) on the sore bit

Wait till your parents get home

(Don't use a heat pack - this will worsen the swelling)

Yes, ice on it now! up off it and get it above your heart while the ice is on it while you are waiting. Take an advil ot tylenol, whatever you are allowed to take for pain. Then they will have to make the call about the ER or the Doc. tom. Good luck, get ice on it an getr off it now.

take a tylenol or aspirin...elevate your foot and put some ice on it...ICE ONLY....NO HEAT FOR THE FIRST 24 HRS...heat will only aggravate it at this point...but make sure it's elevated and you have ice on...make sure the ice is in a baggie and is covered by a towel...otherwise it may cause damage to your skin...try not to walk on it until your parents get home and if they feel it necessary go to the ER and get it x-rayed.

Get a pack of frozen peas, or something similar, wrap it in a tea towel, (to prevent frost burn as well) and put it over the swelling area.
Keep your foot elevated.

Try rubbing it with rubbing alcohol. If the swelling doesn't stop wrap it with an ace bandage and keep your foot up on a pillow in bed. Take some tylenol for pain.
