I dont remember the itsy bitsy spider sung in a horror movie, which one was it? I figure you were going to ask about the Freddy Krueger song. And it is creepy to see or hear little kids sing songs in a scary movie. Little kids arent something you normally associate with scary things.

I think it's supposed to symbolise a twisted sort of innocence. If they play really jaded music it probably wouldn't have the same affect but children singing is supposed to imply safety and innocence and using it as a precursor to horror probably chills people a little more. It's overdone though.

Its supposed to make it sound more "Intresting".Supposedly....But In the Movie,"Burnt Offerings" it was like that,and I didnt really like it.
