If you want a Thinkpad you can still get them from Lenovo.

They may have been priced out of the market. Maybe, you should check with Lenovo, a company IBM sold the business to.
As for the navigation stick, some people love it while others are quite happy with just the touch pad. Looking at most notebooks today, touch pad is the preferred navigation device for notebooks, of course, the optical mouse is still easier for most people.

IBM no longer makes PCs. They sold the PC line to a company called Lenovo. Lenovo still makes the Thinkpad line:

you can order it, maby on line but most vender's see them as junk and don't want the hassles of warranty claims. IBM repaires there own...
