I don't have much luck with votives and anytime I burn them, the little candle holder is put them in is usually ruined forever becuase I can never get all the old wax out. I just bought 2 stemmed votive candle holder as part of my holiday decor and would like to keep them clean-not getting messed up the first time I have to switch candles. I have tried the adding water in the bottom method-but it never works.

I actually make glass jar candles and I reuse the jars that I use to make my personal candles. What I do is put a little water in a small pan, fill it until it reaches about half of the size of the candle holder. Then heat it until the wax is melted really well and pour the excess wax out. Before the wax dries in the candle holder use a paper towel to dry the inside out. Make sure to wear oven mitts or something because the candle holder will be really hot.

I've had success with a similar problem by putting the votive holder into the freezer. After awhile, I can usually pop out the remaining wax. If there's a little bit of residue, I can always scratch it off with my fingernail.

I would put the candles in hot water as the others suggested. When you put the new candles in the votives, pour just a little bit of water. This will make it easier to remove the candles after the wedding. Good luck on your wedding. If you need to purchase other items feel free to visit our website.

You should try putting it in the freezer for a bit. As the wax hardens it will be easier to pick out the wax with a butter knife or something sharp that won't break your candle holder.

Put a coating of grease in the bottom before putting in the candle , it helps when removing the old wax later.

if the water doesn't work here's another.... soak their bottoms in hot water and then have an old spoon and scoop out. you can also freeze them and pop it out.
