can i easily convert a video to a different format so that it is then a supported file type?

I am trying to use windows movie maker and it keeps telling me that it ""is not a supported file type and can not be imported into windows movie maker""? FREE ONLY PLEASE!!!

001.MOV is what it says at the end of it?

I think for .MOV files you need to download Quicktime (its free)

Does the file have no extension (For example .mpg or .wmv)? The error doesn't seem to make much sense. Might be worth ading some codec packs to your machine too.
