When transferring images to cd, what does "open with" mean?

I don't understand this "open with" thing. I know that on my computer, I can only "open with" Jask Photo Shop. Using REALLY simple termonology, what is "open with", and why is it necessary?

Open with just means which program you want to open the pictures up in...for eg you may have a few programs like paint, Jask Photo Shop, Windows Picture and Fax Viewer so you can open em up in either one of those programs..

To use "open with" Windows gives you a choice of the type of program that you wish to use to view the file. An example would be if you wanted to see a text file you could choose wordpad, Microsoft Word, or notepad depending on what is installed on your pc.

The "open with" option simply allows you to choose what software to use to open a file. For example, some people (like me) may have multiple graphics editors capable of opening jpeg images. Using that option, I can select which one I want to use.

pick the program you want it to open with. you can pick any one you want. but that doesnt mean it will work

usually you need to pick the program the file is associate with. like you said. jask photo shop. you need to locate that and pick that one.

you can fix that by going changing your setting and telling it to always use jask photo
