I am doing an assignment for an ethics class, and I need to know where I might find some information. Can anyone tell me where I might find out how much more money a white person made than an African American in the 1950's? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best answer will be chosen for 10 points.

Good for you - checking your facts before generalising.
Try keying "1950 America average wage" into Google.com or ask.com
I'm not concerned with points; but for extra credit, you could take those figures and also graph what women & men earned then.
I'd guess that more men than women were content with their earnings. You could also check out the average house price then; the minimum wage if there was one; the dole figure for each if not the same. The cost of the typical diet.
Really, you would have to figure this state by state; and figure it for city people. Country people might have other resources or generous neighbors; city dwellers might have to survive on their own earnings. You could also look at the contrast between the people who maybe earned that, or more, or less - and those who just didn't (what was the unemployment percentage in that state?) Try a census summary. For the US. I'm guessing that your project is only national in scope?

Try old US Census Bureau numbers. They run a detailed census every ten years, and the results are public info. And that isn;t an offensive question, it'll be very interesting to see what the differance, if any , you find. Good luck with your paper
