No. Normally you will have a file on your compuiter named "host" (No extension) which is used to store information that associates either computer host names or web sites with their IP addresses. This file is used to set up local networks and give faster access to Internet sites. It can be used by some browser hi-jacks that place information in the file that sends you to their web site. If that happens, the files should be cleaned (the line with their information deleted). But the files itself does not have to be deleted.

Dont ever blindly search for, and remove files containing some type of word. This is dangerous as it gets and could be worse than a virus.
Someone is messing with you, or they have no idea what they are talking about. The word HOST in a file cannot harm you pc in any way.

As someone who has worked in technical support, I know there are a lot of people who will read something like this on the internet and then go ahead and do it.
All I can say is if you actually believe this, then you have just been infected by the worst computer virus ever made. No antivirus, spyware blocker, or firewall can protect you from your own self.
