It is difficult. Most people are quite settled by then. You should try getting involved in various groups that interest you in your community; political, exercise, craft, city improvement...Take some classes at a community college or center. Join a church and get involved in groups there. Take a walk and talk to people. Change jobs. Ask to help out at a local library or school. Don't give up!

OmG I thought I was the only one!!!!!! So glad to see this question. I dont think I had any quality friends until I was in my late 30's. most of them I met through association with other people. ( believe it or not I met one of my best friends while I was selling Amway products lmao) Churches are a good place to start also try taking some classes. Check the chatrooms in your area. And finally if you want a quality friend be a quality friend.

I am also 42 and we are at a point in our lives where we are very discerning about who we want as friends. I make it a point to only have a few and even then we have to have a common element that binds us together.
