I wonder if the same people would be falling all over themselves in praise of Bush if he had come to power as a Democrat.

No, because Johnson actually accomplished something - he pushed the Civil Rights Bill through Congress and then signed it. Bush hasn't done crap other than get us involved in a never-ending war for no good reason other than as a personal vendetta. Oops, and he did appoint the first lesbian to serve as Secretary of State - Condolezzy.

Johnson and Bush have 2 things in common.
Each had a endless war on their hands, and both lived in Texas.
And that's it. They are politcally different.
