17^2+10^2=289+100=389<676

The largest angle is the 1 opposite the largest side (see law of sines). from the law of cosines:
26^2=10^2+17^2-10*17*cosx
676=100+289-170cosx
170cosx=100+289-676=-287
x=arccos(-170/287)=126 degrees. Obtuse triangle.

You can rule out a Right angle immediately because in order for it to be a Right angle, two of the sides have to be of equal length. Obtuse triangles open outward, and tend to have a measurement exceeding 90 degrees. I would say it's an Acute triangle.

Hi. For both of your problems, take the two smaller numbers, square them then add the squares together and write down your answer. Then square the largest number and right THAT down. If the second number is equal to the first it is a right triangle. ALWAYS. If the second number is less than the first it is an obtuse triangle, ALWAYS. If the second number is greater than the first it is an acute triangle, ALWAYS.

Squaring the sides, we get 676 > 389. Thus, the triangle is not a right triangle. Further examination shows that one angle is obtuse.
