That is something that they will tell her after her surgery. I have had many abdominal surgeries and for the most part, I wasn't allowed to eat anything for a while after the operations until the colon was at least some what healed. Then I was on clear liquids for a while. Then after that I was put on a very soft diet. I would tell her to stay away from anything that can cause gas because that is thew most painful after abdominal surgeries. It will take a little while but she will be put on a regular diet before she knows it. Popsicles (banana flavored was my favorite when they had me on clear liquids.

Depending on how extensive the operation is will be the deciding factor on how long it will be before she can eat again.

Slowly initiate to operate established nutrients as you sense you could manage it. some people take an afternoon- some a week (my ex-hubby ate a hamburger the nest day, yet one among my daughters nonetheless damage plenty after a week) chuffed healing!

I agree with Pnybt.....trust what the doctor suggests, for it really depends on how your Mom feels, how well she heals, and why she had the surgery in the first place.
