I'm 15, 5'6 and 140lb. When I come home from school I'm so sleepy. Is there anything I can eat or something to give me more energy?

Do you eat a good breakfast? They say that skipping breakfast is the worst thing to do and causes drowsiness and prevents you from learning. It's the most important meal of the day, actually. It doesn't have to be cereal or toast but should include carbs, fruit AND a protein which is peanut butter, eggs, cottage cheese or yogurt. Also do not skip lunch. If you're watching your carbs and have had toast for breakfast, then at least have a meal replacement drink or bar and an apple. Eat something healthy when you get home from school too. And remember to drink lots of water. Then, on top of all that, get some exercise. Jog, ride a bike, play sports, swim, etc. It's sometimes difficult to get moving but once you do, you'll feel much better. I promise.....

You need to get at least 8 hours of sleep every night. And exercise may help too. Proper diet. Stay away from junk food. Drink plenty of water. A lot of it is because you are a teenager. I think you will probably outgrow it in time.

There are a lot of medical conditions that can cause fatigue. Of course, you could just not be getting enough sleep. I know from personal experience that it is tough getting enough sleep in high school. I would ask your doctor about it. He/she should be able to advise you. Things like caffiene pills aren't an ideal solution.

It is very normal for teenagers to need lots of sleep. Get your iron level checked. I was the same as you, same height, weight at that age and I slept A LOT, though I was having a depression at that time. It is normal to sleep a lot when you are depressed too.

The only time I ever get like that is if I am pregnant or constipated.
Oh, of course, also if I didn't get enough sleep or am having unusual stress.

But it could be a bunch of stuff. Hope you get to feeling better.
