the other answers are right, yes, as long as they are both latex/water based paint. What is you reason for mixing the two? if you are expecting it to be semi gloss after you mix, it wont be. mixing flat and s/g together will make both gallons flat. the other thing is make sure you mix them REALLY well, so that it doesn't look uneven on the walls. a little suggestion- if you aren't picky about the color, try buying mistints from local stores, they are usually $5 or less a gallon, and are sometimes great colors.
good luck painting

Only if you are mixing water-based latex with water based latex. If you are mixing oil base then stick with the oil. Oil based won't mix with water based and if you paint with water based over oil based it will flake off when it dries.

Check to see if they water based or oil based. You can mix same based paints.

Yes. It's not going to curdle or burn your house down. But why would you want to? "Matte" is the way to go. It sticks to your walls nicer plus you can clean it without leaving moisture flash marks too.

you could, but you have to ask yourself why you are doing it. once you mix them, you only paint areas that you want a shine to such as trim work, bathrooms and kitchens. i wouldn't put it in other rooms.
