Many women do not support the idea of a woman for President, surprisingly. Some of us who were raised with the idea that women should not need a career... the older generations... really have a hard time with the idea. And the other thing is, many women do not really like other women. Kind of like cats don't like other cats. LOL.

If a woman were elected President, she would have to be a special type of woman. Hillary Clinton ISN'T that type; she angers many women and men with her abrasive power-loving attitudes. Elizabeth Dole would be my choice, if she were running.

Maybe the reason women don’t use their majority status to elect a woman is because they are more concerned with the policy making of the Presidential candidate and not whether the candidate represents their gender. Ultimately what is important in a Presidential election is that a candidate is put in office that represents the thoughts of his/her constituency, he/she can articulate positions with eloquence and clarity, and that he/she engages in policy making that elevates the interests of the people over that of special interest.

The very fact that there hasn’t been this big push to elevate a woman to the presidency, just solely because she is a woman is a testament to the fact that most women aren’t concerned about gender issues as much as they are about the welfare of this country and their fellow man. Quite frankly such a mentality is laudable.

Because women will not vote for someone just because they are also a woman. I would choose a female candidate based on whether their beliefs are in agreement with mine, and I would imagine many other women (and men) do the same.

Being female in and of itself does not qualify someone to be a better president, anymore than being male does.

Clearly women are fully capable of handling the top job brilliantly, even during the most difficult military crisis. But does something about being female make us better? Probably not. We're certainly just as capable as any man of major blunders, political or personal, at home or abroad.

Because a vast majority of women don't want a female president.

Strangely enough, many women are opposed to having a female president.

If the vast majority of male voters prefer male candidates, and a sizeable minority of female voters also prefer male candidates, it stands to reason that male candidates will usually win.

I definitely would like to see a woman President. But I have seen any woman run yet that is worth my vote. It could be Hillary, but I am not sure about her either.

Bring forth a credible candidate and maybe we will. Haven't' seen any out there yet that I would vote for. Not even Condi. When she put her support behind Affirmative action, she told me she is just another minority out for her own race.

Why are you insulting my intelligence by assuming I would vote for someone just because they were a woman?
