colonies, new englanf colies and southern. such as whaling in the new england colonies...thanks!

Agriculture was the main industry in all of the colonies.
Tobacco was the staple crop in Virginia and Maryland. Wheat cultivation was also widespread in the Chesapeake colonies. The Middle cololnies produced massive amounts of grain and thus earned the name "bread" colonies. Fishing was pretty popular in New England due to the natural harbors. The lumber industry was one of the most important manufacturing activities in New England since lumber was used to build ships for England's navy.

Southern colonies = cotton (Georgia) and tobacco (North Carolina, Virginia)
